it's the night before October and all I keep thinking about is how fall's practically over already and before we know it it will be snowing and Christmas and then 2013, and then before i blink Micah will be two...TWO!

we spent the morning showing Micah how to pick (and eat) apples; he kept spitting the peel out into his hand - what he did not spit out: half my apple cider donut.

it's my mom's birthday and it's raining and she has a migraine - i on the other hand feel better than i have in weeks - i wish it was the other way around today.

when asked what his favorite animals were at our trip to the zoo today with my mom and sister, he answered, "Jenni. Grandma." Yup, that pretty much sums it up, no contest there.

a drop in visit from my cousin and his wife was a nice little break to the work day today - they hadn't seen micah for a year so it was fun to watch them all interact together.

when we left last night we didn't know how much was raised - they told us in the middle of church that the grand total was $2,000 and in true to us form i started laughing in shock and curtis started crying!

so grateful for our friends who braved the cold and wind and rain to kick some butt in volleyball and party it up in the pouring rain for us and for the birthday girl.

nine pounds of ground turkey later - i have a crockpot full of sloppy joe for the birthday party/ volleyball tournament/ adoption fundraiser tomorrow.

we started out with errands in the pouring rain - and ended it baking and cooking up a storm.

our first time getting family pictures taken - ever - i'm glad we got the chance at least once before we become a family of four.

although we were only a half hour from home, we felt like we were at an out-of-town retreat with sessions at the metroparks.

the last minute rush before leaving for a weekend always stresses me out a bit.

the pools might be closed, but the lakefront beach sure isn't - spent the morning splashing in ankle-high water and getting every crevice sandy with friends under the bluest sky.

woke up not feeling so hot but made a best of it with a trip to "little gym" with my sister and micah for a free "trial" of a class our little family can't afford.

i cannot focus on work today - but i did find the cure for toenails  yellowed by dark nail polish - 1 T peroxide mixed with 2 1/2 T of baking soday: mix and spread on toenails and let sit for 5 minutes - it seriously works

after recieving a free bike trailer, we took our first bike ride as a family of three - just the first of many.

after a little googling we find a little free science and nature center for a little family outing.

today really was the last pool day for the summer - so sad as Micah has finally gotten the hang of jumping off the side of the pool and dunking his whole head.

we said goodbye to a longtime friend tonight - no he didn't die, he's just moving hours and hours away.

micah has gone to bed past 9 every night for a week - i'm ready for some new routines once fall rolls around.

we said farewell to the city pool today with one final swim - the end of summer always bums me out.
